Everything began with an idea that was first presented to the public in 2014 at the annual gymnastics event of Flums gymnastic club. Four friends from Walenstadt performed an LED show that was entirely new in this form and immediately attracted attention. This first appearance was quickly followed by enquiries and the group’s first bookings in Switzerland.
In 2016, the group reached the grand final of the SRF television show "Switzerland's Got Talent". This appearance marked the starting point for continuous development and a growing presence on national and international stages. In the years that followed, THE BLACKOUTS performed extensively both in Switzerland and abroad, with highlights including the Swiss Days 2019 in Dubai, another final appearance on the SRF show "Stadt Land Talent", and a tour with "Young Artists" at DAS ZELT.
At the same time, the technical side of the show was consistently refined. Today’s LED suits feature around 1,800 individually controllable LEDs and are programmed to the music with an accuracy of 25 milliseconds. This precision forms the technological foundation for the complex, visually dense productions for which THE BLACKOUTS are known today.
As the productions grew, so did the team. What began as a small core evolved into a professional ensemble of dancers, technicians and creatives. In 2022, the next logical step followed with the founding of artGate GmbH. Since then, parallel productions, multiple bookings and a variety of show formats have become possible, including LED duo and LED drum shows.
Another important milestone followed in 2024, when THE BLACKOUTS took part in the German edition of Das Supertalent and reached the final. The programme gave them the opportunity to present their LED show to a television audience of millions and significantly expand their reach and visibility.
2025 marked a decisive turning point: the international breakthrough at "Britain’s Got Talent". Right at the start of the season, THE BLACKOUTS made history by receiving the rare Group Golden Buzzer, sending them straight through to the live shows. In the semi-final, another milestone followed when Amanda Holden awarded a Golden Buzzer live on air for the first time ever in a semi-final of the show.
By reaching the grand final and finishing in an impressive second place, THE BLACKOUTS captivated a global audience of millions. The overwhelming international response, extensive media attention and rapidly growing fan base not only confirmed the group’s artistic vision, but also opened up new possibilities: their LED performance was increasingly perceived as a standalone, narrative stage format rather than a single show moment.
Building on this international momentum, the next logical step followed – the development of a full-length live production.
With "Neon Moves by THE BLACKOUTS", the group created a dramaturgically composed LED show of up to 60 minutes. Supported by a large, internationally assembled team, the production combines precise choreography, dance and acrobatics with dynamic lighting design and carefully selected, dramaturgically adapted music to create an immersive stage experience.
Designed for theatres and large-scale venues, Neon Moves marks a new chapter in the development of THE BLACKOUTS: a shift away from individual show acts towards ambitious, story-driven LED stage productions with a clear artistic vision. The show forms the foundation for the next phase of the journey and is being further developed and presented on international stages.
